William Jack

William Jack graduated from Glasgow and Cambridge. He became an HM Inspector of Schools for SW Scotland and was then appointed Professor of Mathematics at Owen's College Manchester. He left there for the editorship of the Glasgow Herald. After this he became Professor of Mathematics at Glasgow University and held this post for 30 years. He became an honorary member of the EMS in 1902.
