^ Subject: Official GAP Debian packages

Dear GAP Forum,

I would like to announce that GAP is now officialy part of the Debian
free software distribution. Packages for 'sarge' and 'sid' are available
in the Debian archive.

Packages for the 'woody' stable release are available on my Debian page
as before. I recall the sources.list line:

deb http://people.debian.org/~ballombe/gap woody main
deb-src http://people.debian.org/~ballombe/gap woody main

(Only i386 and alpha is available for woody. Please tell me if you need
something else.)

Here the list of packages:
gap
gap-core
gap-dev
gap-doc
gap-libs
gap-online-help
gap-prim-groups
gap-small-groups
gap-small-groups-extra
gap-trans-groups

gap is a dummy package that depend of the major gap component.
You should probably start by installing it unless you are short
on disk space.

Unfortunately, there is a bug in the gap-doc package, the documentation
is not installed in the best location. This will be fixed in the next
release.

I am preparing a new package for the ctbllib library.

Do not hesitate to report any problem to me.

I would like to take the opportunity to thanks the GAP team for
all the help and patience they have provided me, and the GAP
users that have tried my prerelease packages.

Cheers,
--
Bill.
