Dear GAP Forum,

Christopher Bates wrote

I have a copy of the character table for the Chevalley group E6(2) in gap 4
format (from Thomas Breuer's website) and am wondering how to put it in the
character table library so I can access it via a command like

tbl:=CharacterTable("E6(2)");

for example.

This character table is contained in the character table library
of the current version (4.3) of GAP.
So the above command works in GAP 4.3.

If one has an older version of GAP 4 installed then one can replace its
character table library by the new one.
For that, one fetches the archive for the `ctbllib' package from a GAP
server or from the homepage of the package at

http://www.math.rwth-aachen.de/~Thomas.Breuer/ctbllib

Then one follows the instructions in the README file for installing the
package.

(For those who are still working with GAP 3.4:
This package can be used also with this version.)

All the best,
Thomas
