^ Subject: Russian brief introduction to GAP

Dear GAP-forum members,

I would like to inform you that I have prepared brief introduction to GAP
3.4.4 in Russian, which is based on the "About" chapter of GAP 3.4.4 manual.
This 40-pages brochure was published by Zaporozhye State University in
October 1999. Electronic version of this document (in DOC format) was
announced in Summer 1999, and distributed among forum members by individual
requests.

NOW its HTML-version with several corrections is available on the GAP server
in St.-Andrews. The material is accessible at
http://www-history.mcs.st-and.ac.uk/~gap/Info4/deposit.html
where you can click on links to
http://www-history.mcs.st-and.ac.uk/~gap/Deposit/GAP-rus.htm ,
if you would like to read it in the normal way as a web page, or
ftp://ftp-gap.dcs.st-and.ac.uk/pub/gap/gap4/deposit/teaching/GAP-rus.zip ,
if you would like to download its zip-archive, respectively.

You may also go to the main gap page
http://www-history.mcs.st-and.ac.uk/~gap
then click on "Get GAP", followed by "User Contributions" (under the list
headed "GAP 4".

If you will have any problems with reading Cyrillic symbols please do not
hesitate to contact me.
In addition, several hints to do this. MS Internet Explorer users need some
added, "downloadable" functionality, which is explained on the "deposit"
page. The most complete manual on how to set up Netscape to support
Cyrillic is here in English:
http://www.relcom.ru/English/Russification/WinNetscape/cwww_eng.html
or at
http://www.relcom.ru/English/Russification/WinNetscape/cwww_win.html
in Russian.

Sincerely yours,
Alexander B. Konovalov,
Ph.D. (Cand.Sci.), Senior lecturer, Algebra and Geometry Chair,
