Birthplace Maps Index

You can see a map of Europe on which one can click on a country and get a list of the mathematicians born in that country and eight larger scale maps on which one may click on individual locations and see the mathematicians born in these places.
There is also a European map showing coastlines, rivers etc.

Maps available are:

Britain and Ireland
France and the Low Countries
Greece and Turkey
Germany and Middle Europe
Spain and Portugal
Italy
Western Russia and Scandinavia
USA and Canada

These maps may also be accessed from individual biographies.

There is a list of Other countries in which mathematicians were born.

You can see an Index of countries and an Index of places

Places with one mathematician are marked
whilst places with more than one are marked
Mathematicians whose birthplaces are very close have sometimes been included under a single place.

The maps are based on those available from Xerox.
