William Thomson

1856 - 1947


William Thomson graduated from Edinburgh University and then became assistant to Chrystal there. He was appointed Professor of Mathematics at Victoria College Stellenbosch in South Africa. He became Registrar at the University of the Cape of Good Hope and later at the University of Witwatersrand in Johannesburg. He finished his career as Principal of the University of South Africa in Pretoria.
