The Scientific Research Society of Zurich was named Naturforschende Gesellschaft Zurich. It was founded in 1746 and published an important journal four times a year.
The Society was important for mathematics since it published work by leading mathematicians. For example Christoffel, Dedekind, Schwarz, Frobenius, Schläfli all published in the Society's journal, as did Weyl and Hopf.
