For the usual reasons (seeking funding for GAP development) I would like
to hear from as many current or prospective GAP users in the UK as
possible. What I would like from each of you is a very brief statement
of what you use GAP for, what you might envisage using it for over the
next few years and what you might use it for if it were improved in
some way -- better documentation, portability, new mathematical
functionality, better possibilities for linkages to other systems,
better interfaces and development tools, etc.

Not sure I can be much help: so far I've only played with GAP, in the
vague expectation that "it may come in useful sometime". The things I'm
likely to use it for in the near future are "sledgehammer to crack a
nut" things like generating character tables, decomposition matrices,
Cartan matrices, etc. of a size that could probably be done by hand.
If it were easier to deal with modules/homomorphisms, I might use it for
more serious things -- the kind of calculation I have in mind is
calculating homotopy classes of chain maps between chain complexes of
projective modules for a finite group algebra (over a finite field,
say).

For casual users like me, clear documentation that's easy to dip into
is important, but so far I've been very happy with what there is.
